MEAL PLAN WITH RECIPE LINKS – 09/04 – 09/10/21

meal plan with recipe links

You can hear the audio version of this meal plan on my podcast at Lola’s Frugal Life Podcast, on Apple Podcast, and many other platforms!

Welcome to my weekly meal plan! Each week I like to share the meal plan that I will be using for my family for the upcoming week. I do this because I think that having a meal plan is really important for many reasons. Some of those reasons include saving money, wasting less food, and having less stress when it comes time to figure out “what’s for dinner?”! I try to stick with a meal plan that is simple to make things a little easier during our busy weeks. I hope that this can help you with some ideas of what you might want to make this week.

  • Sunday – 09/05/21
    • Sunday nights have I have been trying to stick with easy meals! Tonight we will be having French Dip Sandwiches. I don’t have a link for this recipe. However, all you have to do is put all of the following ingredients into your crockpot and cook on low all day: 3 pounds chuck roast, 1 envelope onion soup mix, 1 packet au jus gravy mix, and 1 14-ounce can of beef broth. When it’s done, serve with some rolls and swiss or provolone cheese! As a side dish, I will also be making some Peas & Pasta.
  • Monday – 09/06/21
    • Hot dogs are on the menu tonight! We do this once a month. I also make some Home Fried Potatoes in the air fryer. I just chop up some potatoes, onion, green peppers. Then toss them in a bowl with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper and throw them in the air fryer on 360 for about 20 – 30 minutes. Some potatoes seem to cook quicker and some are longer, so I just check them along the way and see how much more time they need. You can also roast them in the oven if you don’t have an air fryer. We use the potatoes to make Italian Hot Dogs. I am also serving this with some canned vegetarian pork and beans.
  • Tuesday – 09/07/21
    • Every Tuesday, we do some type of Mexican theme meal. Tonight we are going to do Taco Tuesday! I don’t have a recipe the share for the tacos, but I can tell you how I serve them. For the meat, I cook up some ground turkey and season it with seasoned salt and chili powder. Then I serve with hard taco shells, soft taco shells, shredded cheddar, avocados, sour cream, and taco sauce. As an alternative filling for my daughter that does not eat meat, I will be heating up some canned refried beans.
  • Wednesday – 09/08/21
    • We usually rotate some type of seafood on Wednesdays. Tonight we will be having Bacon Wrapped Barbeque Shrimp. I have mentioned previously that I do not actually wrap the shrimp when I make this recipe. Instead, I cut up the back in pieces and lay over the shrimp on the baking sheet. As a side dish, I will be making some vegetable fried rice. I don’t have recipe link for this one. I will just be stir frying up some frozen stir fry vegetables, then adding some cooked white rice and soy sauce for flavor!
  • Thursday – 09/09/21
    • Thursday’s we usually do some type of soup and grilled cheese, or breakfast for dinner. This is the night that I go food shopping, so I try to keep things simple. Tonight we will be having Crock Pot Potato Soup and grilled cheese. For the Crock Pot Potato Soup, I just put into the crockpot: 1 32 ounce bag of potatoes, peppers, and onions, 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, and 32 ounces of vegetable broth. Then I just let it cook all day on low. We eat it just as it is, but if you would like it creamier, you can add 8 ounces of cream cheese at the end. When dinner time comes, I just have to cook up some grilled cheese sandwiches, and dinner is done!
  • Friday – 09/10/21
    • Today I will be making Creamy Herbed Pork Chops. This is one of my favorite ways to make pork chops. Honestly, I have never made the “creamy part” of the recipe. I am sure it is good! But, I just love the pork chops seasoned with the Montreal Steak seasoning and browned in the butter. It comes out so good. I use bone-in pork chops. For sides I will be making some tortelini with butter and frozen vegetables.
